  • This book is nice, but for the same price you can buy a DVD on the subject. I like Aimee Ketchum’s DVD because not only does she do a great job of demonstrating baby massage, but she also gives lots of information on how your baby develops. Her massage method lasts only 4-5 minutes per session. I really don’t have the time to spend an hour giving my baby a massage. There is so much more information on her DVD about your baby and how simple exercises can help your baby’s brain development and lots and lots of other stuff. I just don’t see why you’d want to buy a book with only massage pictures in it when you can buy a DVD with not only lots of massage info, but also has tons and tons of other simple stuff you can do with your baby. It makes so much sense and you don’t need to buy anything else. Plus Aimee has a nice personality and you can tell she really cares. She’s very qualified and is a pediatric OT plus certified massage therapist for babies, like Gweneth Paltro hires to massage her baby.

  • The book is very detailed and has a lot of good suggestions. Just need a lot of patience in the beginning.

  • I really enjoyed this book. The first half was a little dull to me. I was already convinced that I wanted to do infant massage, so I didn’t need her to explain to me why it’s important, but I am glad she included it for those people who aren’t sure if infant massage is the right thing to do or not.

The actual explanation of the massage techniques, I think, are great. She talks about what to do with each technique and also includes pictures, which is very helpful. I would recommend this book.

  • As a massage educator teaching Infant Massage, I use “Infant Massage” as the textbook for this continuing education course. The book gives a summary of the research supporting infant massage and it’s efficacy. It also details how to do a infant massage with photos depicting the actual techniques that even parents could understand on their own. The last part of the book is dedicated to handling special cases [preemies, sick babies, etc].

Highly recommended for Massage Therapists wanting to teaching Infant Massage to their clients as well as parents trying it at home.

  • Vimala McClure’s book on Infant Massage gives you all the information that you need to start massaging your child, no matter what your baby is like. She gives pointers for massaging colicky children, those with special needs and children as they grow and are no longer little babies. I have given/give this with Suzanne P. Reese’s spiral bound, more visual, massage book to all my friends when they have babies as I think they are wonderful. Everyone agrees!
